McCain cashing in on Hillary being passed over for VP

In response to Barack Obama choosing Joe Biden as his vice president over Hillary Clinton, the McCain campaign has wasted no time in attempting to capitalize on women voters who may be somewhat disenfranchised.

McCain’s campaigned has produced a couple ads in the past few days, here is the first:

Something tells me that “Debra” will be making a big appearance at the Republican convention arguing against Obama and trying to convince Hillary supporters to go for McCain.

Here’s the other ad using Hillary’s own words against Obama:

Report from USAToday:

Republican John McCain launched an ad Sunday claiming rival Barack Obama passed over Hillary Rodham Clinton as his running mate for “speaking the truth” about his liabilities.

The ad, called “Passed Over,” features a clip of Clinton and repeats criticisms the New York senator made during the Democratic primaries over Obama’s alleged lack of specifics on issues, negative campaign tactics and his relationship with Antoin Rezko, a former Obama fundraiser convicted in June on corruption charges.

“The truth hurt, and Obama didn’t like it,” the ad says.

The spot is McCain’s opening shot at grabbing headlines as Democrats converge in Denver to formally nominate Obama as the party’s presidential pick.

McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds said the ad is running in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia and Iowa, in TV markets where the former first lady did particularly well in primary contests against Obama. He said it will also air in Denver.

A Clinton spokesperson has released a statement concerning the ads:

“Hillary Clinton’s support of Barack Obama is clear. She has said repeatedly that Barack Obama and she share a commitment to changing the direction of the country, getting us out of Iraq, and expanding access to health care. John McCain doesn’t. It’s interesting how those remarks didn’t make it into his ad.”

In a close election, this could have enough of an impact if there are negative feelings among former Clinton supporters after the Democratic Convention. We shall see how this pans out…

  1. debra is a smart woman!

  2. Debra seems a bit like an actress to me, I’d laugh if she was and it ended up backfiring on McCain, just like that little girl in the Hillary ad that ended up being an Obama supporter…LOL

I watched Fox earlier where they were talking to some of these Hillaryite nutjobs who’s not voting for Obama, I think some of them need to up their meds.

  3. NZ- I will try not to use ALL CAPS for emphases since it seems to set you off. Your understanding of facts in these ads seems to be lacking. Try watching them again. Write down each—- fact—-. Repeat watching until you have them all written down.. Do the same with Obama’s ads. Then do your research to see who is telling the truth. Which is practical. Which will actual be carried out. Let your vote be a educated vote. nutjob lanuage is really meaningless provocative non-sense.

  4. Pudding, phrases like “Hillaryite nutjobs” is exactly what has increased this groups numbers in the millions. Personally, I say keep it up, McCain appreciates it.

The girl is not an actress, she was a delegate for Hillary, and when she said she would not transfer her delegate vote to Obama, they STRIPPED her of her delegate status. So now you know……..the rest of the story. ;)

  5. Babs I have admired reading some of your comments. Nz gets on my nerves. He gets way out there at times. He understood nothing inf the ads. I have no love for Bill and Hillary, nut name calling is not my bag.

  6. Bill,

Pudding is one of the most nerve wrenching people on here but you have not seen some of the worst yet LOL.

great ads lately by McCain btw!

  7. I look forward to Republican Conveention and future ads. As McCain said last night On Jay Leno, there are a lot of false stuff fling around ( my words). I heard tonight on DNC of all things bad about Bush and McCain. Yet laws are passed by Congress. Not President. Congress Voted for Iraq war and every war budget. They added or tried to add hugh pork belly spending to war finace bill. Yet the war was Bush war. With Biden and Hillary Believing Obama is not qualified to be President. And after all the massive money Obsama has, McCain appears to start leading in the polls. I have high hopes for McCain.

  8. Bill I appreciate your control of over-using CAPSLOCKS ;-) Unless people have a crystal ball and see into the future no one can know for certain exactly what will and won’t be carried out. One thing’s for certain though and this America needs to go in a new direction than from its present course.

To be honest Babs, the woman seems a bit unstable, in fact every Hillaryite I’ve seen on the TV who’ve said they’ll vote for McCain over Obama seem a little unstable. At least with Obama they’d get cheaper meds…LOL

Bill again, I’m glad I get on your nerves, like I’m glad I get on O_S’s nerves. You, Babs and O_S don’t want a fair debate about the candidates, you’ve made your choice in slamming Obama, so take a little slamming back.

  9. About the only slamming I have done on the sites is stuff like this. Biden, Hillary say Obama should not be Prsident. Kerry and Biden wanted McCain as Democrat V.P,.Obama got pork belly spending for his wofe’s hospital. His wife got hugh raise according to Income tax forms. Obama got help buying home frome a crook who has been found guilty. Stuff like this I say. I hardly every talk about issues. Or slamming a person personal choice for President. voter must deside who they vote for.. I don’t do is what you do. Use garbage to insuilt people. This comment was acceptable logic. Some times it is not

  10. Rz You said someone seem unstable in the video. You said I and others are slamming Obama when we use facts. I can understand that would believe I am slamming Obama when I quote Hillary and Biden saying Obama is not qualified. You feel it is slamming because you can not argue against proven truth.. FOR YOU BENEFIT I WILL APOLOZIZE FOR USING INDESPUTABLE FACTS.

  11. Aw come on, pudding, you’re getting pretty defensive for a guy who used to show some sense around here. How are you voting from New Zealand, btw, write in, call in, what?

  12. BABS You did a wonderful job expaining the video woman to Pudding earlier. Prehaps he did not read it. Or he fells more comfortable insulting her.

  13. OBAMA SUCKS. When your right , your right. Pudding conclusions lacks something. In my opionion, logic and mental capacity. Sorry about my use of personal viewpoint. Glad he lives in another country.

  14. Bill, most of my conclusions lack spelling and grammatical errors, although I am not totally infallible. I hope Obama puts a strong focus on education when in office as this No Child Left Behind policy has a few casualties methinks…LOL

  15. puddy Back to calling you puddy. Bad spelling and grammer.no argument. But I don’t write that you are a ……………..I don’t say i can read you mind. You wish to be mad at me. OK

  16. Pudding, why didn’t you answer my question? I was serious. I was always under the impression you’re an american citizen in New Zealand. I really wanted to know how americans vote from a foreign country, I was curious.

  17. Babs, I’m British now living in New Zealand who spent some time living in America and Canada and who has family in America. I have a general interest in Politics (nothing too deep) from all around the world as what happens in one country does affect what happens in another.

These elections in America affect more than just Americans and I cannot stress enough how important it is that the right guy is in The White House.

I have said many times and I’ll keep on saying it many times that I really like McCain but he’s 8 years too late. I bet there’s not many people who don’t wish McCain got the Republican nomination in 2000 and not Bush…BUT…Bush did get the nomination and obviously the Presidency and the world as a whole is worse off because of it.

Unless McCain throws Bush under the wheels of a bus at next weeks GOP convention then he’ll be seen as Bush’s 3rd term and that just won’t do.

As for voting from abroad, American citizens can get intouch with their Embassy in that particular country. http://www.fvap.gov/ is a good website that explains things better.

  18. Puddy-Bush is the problem for the entire world ?. What great power our President has. Britain is nothing if Bush does certain things ? What power President has. Right Puddy ?? Congress is nothing. Judicial Branch is meaningless as well. I hope you understand satire….America has gone through a long rise in economic growth. As happened thoughout history, Stock market will go up and down. Alwaays going up exist in no country. You wish to blame Bush for that. Ok.

    Report Comment

  19. You probably underestimate how much influence America has and how much power the American President has in the world as a whole. Everything from oil to houses, what happens in America happens here and around the word too. That’s why the election of the next US President is so important, not just for Americans but for everyone.

An example: When the sub-prime mortgage fiasco happened in America, it followed on to Britain, to Australia and now here in New Zealand.

Britain is America’s poodle and that’s not just me saying that, that’s what most Britains think.

    Report Comment

  20. I don’t think so. Yes each country affects another. Sub prime problems occured in other countries because other countries people bought those bonds. You wish to blame America for that. Enjoy. Here is Example of another country hurting other countries I blame countries that have Nationlized assest that left american people poorer.

    Report Comment

  21. You know what most British think. You sure are important

    Report Comment

  22. The power of The American President has nothing to do with bonds. Congress can control bonds

    Report Comment

  23. sub prime Bond sales is in the private sector sold to the private sector

    Report Comment

  24. Sub prime bonds were high yeilding and higher risk bonds and sold privately.. Sometimes sub prime was mixed with higher rated bonds bringing a lower yeid bond Treasury notes are very safe but the yeid is miniumal .You might check into rating systems of bonds. No one is ever forced to buy bonds. Those who chose to take that risk gambled. When gambling soome times you lose. So your answer is to blame America. Wow. I bet when you make mistakes, you blame others instead of yourself. I trade stocks, but know a little about bonds. When I buy a stock and lose. I shall blame you. Using you logic that seems acceptable..

  25. Sorry, pudding, I really thought you were an American abroad. Thanks for the info, though.

  26. Bill for once believe me when I tell you that The President of the United States and the United States in general has so much influence in the world the decisions made in The White House don’t just affect America. It would be fantastic if it didn’t but it does.

Also believe me when I tell you that most British people because of Tony Blair taking Britain into the Iraq war think Britain is America’s poodle.

I know you’ll want to be argumentative about it, I can tell it’s your nature, but what I’ve said is absolutely true.

  27. Absolutelt true….That is really hard to say. English teacher suggest not to use them. I believe called superatives. So America should get out of NATO. We are everything wrong with Europe . We should not have entered WW 1 & 2. Forcing our help upon the world. Lend lease during that war was demeaning..And if Russia puts the screws to Europe on oil. Stay out of it America. America made England go to Iraq. You need to change your form of government. Just for a little history lesson. The common wealth was devolped in war. When England defeateda country, they keep it. Stealing the wealth of tha country. America did not do that. American procession countries voted to be part of America. Soon will will live Iraq. We have not taken their oil money. Infact, we gave hem money.
