And it’s no accident that the cages are being set up blocks away from where the delegates will be, so that the bulk of them won’t find out. These have no bathroom facilities, just cages and barbed wire. They resemble concentration camps more than jails.
And it’s happening in America.
That’s chilling. The illegal arrests and detention of protesters of the last RNC was terrifying to me when I heard about it - people packed into jail cells, standing room only for days on end, with no real food given, no phone calls allowed, some people who needed medical treatment were simply ignored. I have a friend who experienced pretty much the same treatment when protesting the Iraq war in Chicago.
It’s hard to believe this happens in America, but it seems like it’s become so standard that they’re making sure to prepare ahead of time. Well… at least we have evidence of bipartisan cooperation on something

I hope there’s a power cut when Jimmy Carter speaks.
Kinda interesting that the headline prime-time speaker on Wednesday will be Barack Obama’s Vice Presidential nominee and Joe Biden is down to speak on Wednesday. Mind you so is Bill Rishardson and Harry Reid…LOL
It is shameful that the Democrats would have Jimmy Carter as a speaker. He is a disgrace to our country. His action in he past few years should disqualify him from having a national platform, even as a past president.
What are you guys goin on about? And maybe I’m a young’un, but what is the beef I’ve noticed some people have with Jimmy Carter? I’ve heard him called so many names, but I’ve never heard why…
One of the things his administration did was push population control policy on Americans through a centralized government mandate, that carried on down to every state. Population control, especially through abortion (but through other means as well), is the continuation of the eugenics policy of the early 20th century. Bertrand Russell and H. G. Wells initiated the whole policy in the western world because they thought most people are “useless eaters” and thus don’t deserve to live.
—-> THIS is a brief rundown on some of Carters finer moments.
Ex-President Jimmy Carter deserves a medal for standing up to Neo-con/Zionist extremists, and telling it like it is about Israel/Palestine.
72% of Israelis and 72% of Palestinians would agree, so do try to ignore the minority of disinformation merchants.
Jimmy Carter is being criticized because he believes that the Palestinians are not being fairly treated. He thinks we should look again at our policies in the Middle East. It is a brave thing for him to do in the current climate. He is a true statesman.
You should all be ashamned of yourselves for criticizing former President Carter. He is one of the wisest, most compassionate leaders that this country has ever had. He lives his faith - doesn’t just talk about it. He didn’t win the Nobel Peace Prize because he was out promoting war - he has always been an instrument for peace….
It is true that we need to stop considering Israel as always being right, and look at this thing more objectively.
If Obama had chosen Al Gore as his Vice Presidential Candidate, it would have ensured him with a victory in November. Gore used to be a Washington insider who has trnsformed into an agent of change as a renowned nature steward and environmentalist. Obama would have been internationally commended if Gore was selected as Vice President. Global warming is a worldwide crisis issue and Gore is at the forefront combating it.
Hey there!
Was just reading your blog and thought you might be interested in this early profile of Jerry Kellman (first guy to hire Obama out of college as a community organizer). Interesting that he calls him idealistic but says “the streets of chicago made him practical and realistic.†Kellman’s speaking at the DNC tonight, so I thought you might wanna check it out.
