It was announced today that Hillary Clinton’s name would be included for nomination at the Democratic National Convention. Basically this is a show by the Obama campaign and an attempt to win over Clinton supporters by appearing to give them more of a voice at the convention.
Story from Fox News:
Hillary Clinton supporters will get their chance for catharsis at the Democratic National Convention in Denver as the New York senator’s name will be included in the nomination.
A joint statement issued Thursday by Clinton and Barack Obama said Clinton will be included because they want to ensure that “the voices of all 35 million people who participated in this historic primary election are respected and heard in Denver.â€
“I am convinced that honoring Senator Clinton’s historic campaign in this way will help us celebrate this defining moment in our history and bring the party together in a strong united fashion,†Obama said.
In recent weeks, the Obama and Clinton campaigns have been negotiating whether to allow the losing presidential candidate’s name in the roll call vote. Sources from both campaigns told FOX News that the negotiations have been friendly and tension-free despite reports of past conflict between the two campaigns during the heated primary season.
The statement by Obama and Clinton said including her name on the nomination ballot will be a show of unity and a recognition that she is the “first woman to compete in all of our nation’s primary contests.â€
It is also one more step the Obama campaign is taking in an effort to appease Clinton and quell lingering resentment of Democratic Party members still divided by the intense primary battle.
“With every voice heard and the Party strongly united, we will elect Senator Obama President of the United States and put our nation on the path to peace and prosperity once again,†Clinton said.
Clinton originally said she would not sign a document to enter her name into nomination, but told a group of supporters at a fundraiser on July 31 that it was important for her supporters to have a moment of “catharsis†at the convention.

Well unless Obama starts growing a huge pair of bollocks soon and really goes after McCain, I think a lot of Dems will want Hillary. She has a bigger set of nuts than both of them put together…you can tell by the way she stands in her trouser suits…LOL
She may end up the Democrat nominee. I wouldn’t be surprised.
Well, nzpudding, that apparent lack of bollocks keeps him leading narrowly but steadily in the polls, and gets McCain frustrted enought so his campaign has to came up with more and more negative ads that have had their share of backfires.
Clinton’s attack machine (or, as you would put it, “pair of bollocks”) costed her the nomination of her party.
Lots of Democrats still want Hillary. But the majority still wants Obama. So Chris is wrong here. The Dem nominee is Obama. And, so far, the presidential race is Obama’s to lose… not McCain’s to win.
Which after, are “better than worse” news.
Mike has obviously taken a hearty sip of the Obama-bot Kool Aid. Sad, really.
Senator Clinton received more votes than Obama and more votes than other Presidential contender in Primary history. So it was not her “attack machine” that cost her the nomination, but rather the way that the democratic Primaries are set up. And let’s not forget Florida and Michigan. It is a fact that if the Democrats had the same rules as the Republicans, Senator Clinton would have been the nominee ages ago. Nice try.
Also, some in this nation (esspecially Democrats) are lazy and narrow minded. They refuse to examine the issues on an intellectual basis, but would rather vote on a vague notion of “change” and “hope”.
PS- I know many people who work inside of the Republican Party. The consensus from the RNC was that once McCain was the clear winner in February, they were telling conservatives to register as Democrat and vote Obama. The inside scoop from many in the RNC that I spoke with, have said that Hillary was the most frightening prospect against McCain. They know that “she could win, and win easily”.
If this race is “Obama’s to lose”, he’s doing a great job.
If Obama could win the White House by taking the high road then that would be fantastic, but he can’t and his slipping in the polls reflect that.
For the Dems to win in November they not only need to play the Reps at their own game but better than them and beat them. Gore lost in 2000, Kerry lost in 2004 and Obama’s going to lose unless he whips out his nuts and starts slapping McCain daft with them.
Obama can’t “whip out his nuts”, pudding, he’s afraid Jesse Jackson will really cut them off.
Ha. Great one Babs! I almost forgot about that incedent.
Regarding Hillary. I don’t think she will be too upset if Obama loses, especially since McCain may be a 1 and out president if he wins. I think she’s eyeing 2012 big time and the best way for that to happen is for McCain to win.
