Word is that Al Gore will be endorsing Obama later this evening. My first question, is there an Obama/Gore ticket in the future? Honestly if there is anyone probably more popular in Democratic circles than the Clintons, it would be Al Gore. Choosing Gore would immediately nullify McCain’s attempts to sound like the “greener” candidate.
Story from MyWay:
FLINT, Mich. (AP) - Al Gore is endorsing Barack Obama and promising to help the Democrat achieve what eluded him - the presidency.
In a letter to be e-mailed to Obama supporters, the former vice president and Nobel Prize winner wrote, “From now through Election Day, I intend to do whatever I can to make sure he is elected president of the United States.”
In 2000, Gore won the popular vote but lost the disputed 2000 election to George W. Bush, who captured Florida and its electoral votes after a divided Supreme Court ended the recount. Since then, Gore has made combatting global warming his signature issue, and has been recognized worldwide for his effort - from an Academy Award for a documentary for his effort to the Nobel prize.
“Over the past 18 months, Barack Obama has united a movement. He knows change does not come from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue or Capitol Hill. It begins when people stand up and take action,” Gore wrote. “With the help of millions of supporters like you, Barack Obama will bring the change we so desperately need in order to solve our country’s most pressing problems.”
The former vice president also asked for donations to help fund Obama’s effort - the first time he’s asked members of his Web site AlGore.com to contribute to a political campaign.
Gore is one of the most popular figures in the Democratic Party, but he kept a low profile in the primary campaign. He’s planning to appear with Obama at a rally in Detroit Monday night.
I’ll update later with video of the endorsement.

Nate, I’m not too sure that his brother is trying to allude to some secret religion Obama is trying to hide from the public. Semitic peoples generally define themselves as a “muslim” or a “jew” based upon their lineage, not upon their religious beliefs. Of course, if you are raised in that environment, then your religious beliefs are likely linked with your semitic ancestory, but that’s not neccessarily the case, even in those circumstances.
Also, keep in mind that by this definition almost anyone who is African-American should be considered muslim, as well. Most Saharran and Sub-Saharran nations in Africa are predominantly muslim, with the notable exception of Ethiopia, which is Orthodox Christian (not much different), so if their lineage lies in these lands, are they, too, Muslim?
The reason that African-Americans don’t generally have surnames like “Obama” is because their families almost invariably adopted the slave-names given to them by their masters.
why on earth would al gore want to be VP again?
Why on earth would we want him?
Good question, Babs!
He comes in 2nd on my favorite ticket list.
Nr 1: Obama/Hagel
Nr 2: Obama/Gore
Nr 3: Obama/Clinton
Of course Obama/Biden would be the best but Biden doesnt bring in extra votes.
Yeah, I highly doubt that Gore would want to go through VP again…
Pretty much all of the liberal establishment seems to favor Obama, as far as I’ve gathered.
So I hear both John Edwards and Sam Nunn are on the list for VEEPS for Obama this morning. Anyone want to comment on why Obama would be considering a 70 year old (Nunn) for VP, in light of all the ageism issues surrounding McCain?
