Video: Dean says either Clinton or Obama must drop out in June

DNC Chairman Howard Dean seems to be getting more demanding everyday as the Democratic race drags on. Earlier in the month he was calling for the superdelegates to decide on a candidate by July. He’s now upped that demand asking that either Obama or Clinton drop out in June for the sake of the party.

Here’s the story from Yahoo News:

WASHINGTON - Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean said Monday that either Hillary Rodham Clinton or Barack Obama must drop out of the Democratic presidential race after the June primaries in order to unify the party by the convention and win the election in November.

But Dean didn’t say which candidate should drop out, only that it should happen after primary voters have been to the polls.

“We want the voters to have their say. That’s over on June 3,” Dean said in an interview on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”

Dean also said that while the party rules say Democratic superdelegates can wait until the party’s August 25 convention to make up their minds, that would be too late to unify the party and defeat the presumptive Republican nominee, John McCain.

“We really can’t have a divided convention. If we do it’s going to be very hard to heal the party afterwards,” Dean said. “So we’ll know who the nominee is and that’ll give us an extra 2 1/2 months to get our party together, heal the wounds of having a very closely divided race and take on Senator McCain.”

Dean said he won’t have to tell either Clinton or Obama when it’s time to leave the race.

“Either of these candidates, if it’s time for them to go, they’ll know it and they will go,” Dean said. “They don’t need any pushing from me. You know when to get in and you know when to get out. That’s just part of the deal.”

Here is Dean’s entire interview from this morning on the Today Show:

Dean knows whatever everyone else is afraid to say. He knows that unless one of these candidates drops out, things will not be pretty moving forward to the convention. Just take a look at Re-create ‘68 and you’ll see what I’m talking about.

If Hillary Clinton stays in, and the superdelegates choose her as the nominee, you can rest assured that every liberal leftist group will be descending on Denver to cause mass chaos for the convention as the will of Democratic voters would have been overridden.

Dean is trying his darnedest to prevent such an occurrence as he sees the writing on the wall.

  1. Could somebody please tell this nut that he’s not the one running against John McCain? That’s all he wants to talk about, write about, and probably dream about. I can see why he didn’t get the democratic partie’s nomination when he ran, he’s like a little wind up doll that can only say “McCain”, “100 years”, and “Bush”. No wonder Clinton and Obama seem to ignore his rhetoric. *L*

  2. Is the term “McCainbot” valid already?

McCain is the candidate of the opposite party. OPPOSITE. His job is to prepare and organize his party to run campaign AGAINST McCain. What do you expect?

Most people talk about Bosnia or Wright, Racism or Lewinsky… but McCain DID TALK about the possibility of running a 100 year war. Why do you want to forget that, and not the gaffes made by the Democratic candidates? Why do you defend him so much?

Are you in love with McCain?

To run a campaign about economic healing, and at the same time support a war with no end on sight (and its bloodshed, and its irresponsible money spending)… that’s not a gaffe. That’s plain naiveness(stupidity) or hypocrisy. Your choice if you don’t want to think about that.

But don’t attack others for calling on McCain’s wrong comments. You may love hime for some strange reason and contradictory reason (Yes, I have read your article) but don’t love him BLINDLY.

    That’s all I ask you.

  3. I just paid $55 to fill up the tank of a little Ford Contour. This war has to end now, get the money back into the economy, and execute the board of directors of every oil company for treason.

  4. Melvin, did you hear today that Clinton has come into agreement with McCain’s gas tax holiday? And that she wants to pay for it by taking it out of the oil companies as a windfall tax. Obama still opposes it.

But we can’t blame the war entiredly for gas prices. This started with Hurricane Katrina, remember.

  5. Don’t fool yourself Michel, McCainbot will never be valid - just doesn’t have the same ring to it as Obamabot. Now, Hillibot maybe you could get away with - that sort of works, but you really need to have a catchy phrase to sling muck with, or it just sounds plain silly.

How about “‘Caindroid”? I kind of like that one, I think the pettiness of it rolls off the tongue nicely. Guess it’s good to know I learned something in middle school… That will also convert well to “Nad’riod” in the general election when the medalsome green party comes into play! Any ideas for Keyes though? We’ll need a good way to insult people voting for him…

  6. Babs, you are right we cant completely blame the war but executing the heads of the oil companies would still make me feel better about it.

You are right though they did originally blame this mess on Katrina so they could boost profits and our current administration just played right into it.

The problem I see with the Windfall Tax on the oil companies is that it wouldn’t stop them from raising current prices to maintain their level of income. I have an annoyingly bad habit of reading reading obscure literature like that. I use to hold a public seat for a smaller government.

If you tax them without capping their sales prices then they are allowed to gouge the tax losses right out of the customers causing us to now pay not only the gas prices but the extra they are being taxed.

Our best bargaining chip for better gas prices would be to tap the Gulf of Mexico reserve and flood the market with massive amount of dirt cheap oil then regulate the oil producers like we do any other utility.

I agree that we need less control of big corporations, but in turn I believe they need to fend for themselves when they make mistakes; not the tax payers bailing them out, and for the oil industry don’t tax them more just take the ropes off of the other technologies that want to compete against them and make them prove their worth and lower their prices because of the competition.

I agree that McCain needs to hear about his issues as well but I can not believe I see you asking someone to stop defending their candidate.

Man, you are out there I guess. You are in Love with Obama and Wright! Seems only fair that someone could be in love with McCain in your world.

    Practice what you preach….LOL

  9. Defend your candidate, alright. But you have to know why you’are defending, if you have the right cause, and WHY do you say others should stop the attacks of your candidates. Have you read Babs post about why she supports her candidate? You should. It’s a piece of work.

Actual thought process can be a tricky thing, but with practice and time you’ll get it.

Again you need to read your own post. “you have to know why you’are defending” This is your words but you defend a guy who continues to attack America…

Let me revise my “attack” on you ……Stupid Loser who can not read and follow his own direction! Oh, sorry did I hurt your feelings….LOL

I don’t care if he attacks America in his sermons, or he is only attacking its government. Many people defend free speech, but well, let him speak. He may actually have somthing good to say from time to time, and you just have to listen to all the voices to get what they have to say and build a better America. Wright, radical as he is and racist as he probably is (I support you on that and I have said so many times) have stated some good points about solidarity and wrongdoings of the past. But the man have lost all credibility, so I don’t listen to what he says. Why you do? (and if you do, why don’t you hear everything he has said to judge him fairly, and not only bit looped snippets?)

I don’t support the guy on his views, but I think that everyone should say whatever he wants. I think you too. You want people who have done real damage to America? Hillary Rodham “NAFTA” Clinton, and her acceptance of money to resign to her beliefs, George Bush Jr. and his genocidal administration, John McCain and his support of anti-inmigrant laws at the Senate, and his incompetence at politics (Bear DNA bill, support on the war)… those people are the some of the ones who have REALLY hurt America (and other countries).

So, no, I don’t care what Wright say. He is no real threat to the country. All the people above (and many more) ARE.
Once you think about it, maybe Obama’s little time in Washington is his best credential. Ha hasn’t played a part in all the atrocities that have been commited there. He’s the “cleaner” of the three, if you get what I mean.

But anyway, I won’t lose patience with you. I write this posts notfor you, because it seems you don’t listen to argumentation, but to anybody who can read it with an open mind. Some else may tell what a sad woman you are, but it won’t be me.

  12. Hillary thinks that not talking to people will solve issues. That fact simply makes her unqualified. A good Secretary of health though.

Obama showed judgment on Iraq and on all the other issues he and Hillary are equally qualified.
Last, Under al these attacks form conservative America Obama has stayed calm and has run a decent and respectfull campaign.

He is a once in a lifetime candidate indeed.

You don’t care if Wright keeps up his attacks on America because you don’t listen to him….This world does not follow your lead. You see, I don’t listen for myself but their are kids and even grown people in this country who see his attacks and then they see people defend them like you do. That is a problem because the more this type of thing happens, the more common it will become unless the American people speak out against such behavior.

You may not care but You don’t seem to understand that we set an example for the young and if we say “oh, its ok because I don’t care” then it will have an impact on what type of treatment on the American people they will see as normal.

I don’t care about Wright because I know he is a loser but Its hard for me to teach my kids that this is not ok when people like you seem to tell the world”I Don’T Care”.

Does that make any sence to you? Surly you can agree with that!

    Everybody speak up on this.

  14. Dem’08,

Yes, I know his message is harmful. But only fo those who listen to him. I try to convince people not to listen. I try to convince them that their best weapon against this kind of behaviour is to deny it all your attention. To *not* care.

That’s my same way of thinkg when it comes about many things of the deterioration of modern society. Garbage TV, for example. we have to learn to not care for them, to not pay them attention, to educate others in the ways of ignoring them. So that way most people will ignore it and the power of blindness of the mind won’t affect as many people. I don’t defend Wright’s behaviour. But I find it normal. I see lets of different things. What I find repulsing is that the media is wiling to propagate his name and his image (and, indirectly, his message) so people can CARE ABOUT HIM and eventually draw their attention away from real issues.

See, if I kept worrying about Wright, and finding fault in Obama for giving the man too much the benefit of the doubt, then I would distract myself from seeing the good things of Obama’s message. I wouldn’t see what’s beneficial for all of us, I wouldn’t teach my son to try to listen to every part, like Obama does…. instead of finding a way to love and creat, I would be finding a way to ahte and destroy. Those themes are useful and important too… but not so important when it comes to finding ways to improve the world, the society and the human being.
