Video: Fred Thompson on McCain, Obama, and 2008
Former Republican Presidential candidate Fred Thompson had an interview with Sean Hannity last night. They discussed Thompson’s bid for the White House along with what Thompson thinks of McCain and Obama.
For the Fredheads:

Part 3:
That’s decent support for McCain, he probably needs more of it from people like Thompson who are considered more conservative than him.

Thanks for posting this, Nate, I had missed it on TV. It was an excellent assessment of McCain, I think. Thompson did a good job of separating McCain from the old school republicans and Bush. He also did a good job on his assessment of Obama, not that anything he said was surprising, but the way he said it was commendable.
Assessment was pretty good. Except the rev Wright part. When he talks about Obama not disowning him then later saying he is disowning him makes me question the rest of his motive in this interview. Obama never said that. The false contridiction was created by fox news. Anyone who saw the debate and watches Fox news knows this. If you need clarification watch this video.

He was clearly talking about the statements that he disowned not the man himself. And Thompson now is coming to the same false conclusion?
Job well done. After watching that I definitely came away with the perception that McCain was a good all around guy. He doesn’t have a temper and seems to be calm. He is honest with himself, doing what he feels is right and not necessarily what others feel. Definitely a good quality. I feel like he is a safe bet.
I love listening to Fred Thompson; he is completely real and I feel like I can take most of what he says to the bank. I was happy to hear his thoughts on Obama; he spelled out the feelings I have about Obama, that he cannot yet be trusted.
I was even surprised at his honesty and bluntness when he said he would not even consider the VP bid, I agree with his position. I hope we will hear more from Fred before November.
I agree with most of Fred says, except this time, I found it hard to stomach what he said about McCain. McCain is not honest (Fred said he is). I can explain if you’d like (that opens up a big can of worms).
The way I see it, McCain is a “blind spot” for Fred. They have been friends for years, after all. Fred said McCain had the credibility to lead the country through perilous times. However, when I surf the ‘net, I see little satisfaction from the traditional Republicans about McCain. There’s disrespect everywhere about him in online political forums, and probably rightfully so, after the bold disrespect he’s given Republicans through the years. At the same time, people don’t see a better option. Let me pose the question: would you trust McCain if you knew he had met with the Rothschilds in England several months ago? Do you call it honest to break the McCain-Feingold law?
I didn’t sense the same fiery passion from Fred that he had when campaigning, but he may have just been more relaxed, which I suspect. His face looked more worn, too, which worries me. He alone among the Republican contenders was gaining followers in late January right before he quit the race. I think he shouldn’t have quit.
If I had to choose between any of the three recognized candidates, I would choose another (who is still a candidate, just slighted by the media)–Ron Paul. He was my second choice after Fred.
