Video: Hillary Clinton Says “Obama can’t win”
This is becoming a rather large story but I can’t quite figure out why. Don’t most candidates running think their opponent can’t win? Either way, apparantly ABC’s George Stephanopoulos had the scoop on this so here’s the video with him discussing it all:
Also, here’s the report on it from the New York Post:
WASHINGTON - While lobbying for his endorsement, Hillary Rodham Clinton flatly told New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson that Barack Obama could not win the presidency if he got the Democratic nomination.
“He cannot win, Bill. He cannot win,” she said, according to a report by ABC News.
Despite her appeal, Richardson ultimately endorsed Obama - which sent Bill Clinton into a purple rage last weekend during a private meeting with California superdelegates.
“Five times to my face [Richardson] said that he would never do that,” the former president thundered.
One of the roughly 15 superdelegates in attendance told the San Francisco Chronicle, “It was one of the worst political meetings I have ever attended.”
I guess the insinuation here is why she’s saying he can’t win. There are questions, of course, that she’s saying it’s because of his race that he cannot win. I don’t read into it that much. When I think he can’t win, I’d think more of experience and his own political troubles with Jeremiah Wright, not his race.

There must be sth fishy somewhere that she knows or wants to do.Remember the Clintons?Keep on guys you will find out.
I don’t believe Hillary has said Obama cannot win. She has said that she CAN win.
I believ she does have a better case to make against John McCain…and I personally have doubts that Obama can beat McCain.
Tahler, do you think Bill Richardson was lying when he said Hillary said that to him? I think that will surely be Hillary’s argument, and on the other side of the coin I myself wonder how far Richardson will go to get Obama elected. What position in Obama’s presidency do you he think he was promised? Good food for thought here.
Well it all depends on when this statement was made. If it was made around the time Obama won South Carolina and Bill compared
this victory to Jesse Jacksons victory then i guess it’s not that bad. Because at this time they didn’t have faith in Obama being as strong as he is now. And believed that his race would hinder him from having a chance.
If this statement was made recently then that is different.
A lot of talk and speculation this weekend on the weekend news shows about a running mate for Obama - seems Richardson is on the top of the list for most of them.
