Edwards Rejects VP Possibility

Edwards Rejects VP Possibility

On Thursday, John Edwards refused to repeat political history by publicly announcing he had no interest in becoming a running mate for either of the Democratic contenders. Edwards served as John Kerry’s running mate in 2004 and many pundits have speculated either Clinton or Obama choosing him for their running mate in 2008.

Sinead Carew of Reuters reports, April 3, 2008:

After his keynote speech at CTIA, the annual U.S. wireless industry showcase, Edwards was asked in a question-and-answer session if he would accept the nomination for vice president.

“No,” said Edwards, who also declined to say whether he would endorse Clinton or Obama.

Many people have argued that Edwards was more interested in the Attorney General position than the vice presidency. Whether this is true or not remains to be seen.

  1. John Edwards never had a chance running for prez this time around, lets face it, he was the out-of-place white man running against the Messiah and a woman. VP is the closest he will ever get to commander and chief.
