Video: McCain on Letterman

Video: McCain on Letterman

John McCain made an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman Tuesday night, April 1st. It was a pretty decent appearance and was quite funny. I’ve always sensed Letterman has a little affection for McCain.

Here’s the video:

Scripted, but funny.

  1. It took me listening twice to name the tune that marked McCain’s entrance, which made this all the more humorous. It was the 50’s hit “Soldier Boy”, remember it? “Soldier boy, oh my little soldier boy, I’ll be true to you”. Ack, I probably just gave away my age big time, huh? *L*

  2. I’ve never liked Letterman but after the way he treated O’Reilly on his show, I refuse to watch it anymore.

  3. I heard he treated O’Reilly badly, but since I’ve NEVER watched an episode of Letterman, I didn’t see it. That bad?

  4. O’Reilly is not known for treating his guests very well (at least, the liberal ones). I have not seen the clip Stalin, but I would assume O’Reilly’s skin was thick enough to survive Letterman. If he could weather that Colbert exchange, he should be able to weather most anything.

  5. I caught O’Reilly last night, he was having a ball rerunning the McCain/Letterman skit.

  6. Michael,

The difference is that Letterman showed his cards and looked pretty immature. He usually doesn’t come out and attack his guests like that. I enjoy O’Reilly’s program but I don’t like him personally so I don’t care how thick his skin is. When you go on O’Reilly you expect to be tossed some fastballs, that is not the format of Letterman’s show.

  7. O’Reilly has been on Letterman 2 or even 3 times. I actually think that O’Reilly nailed him to the wall when asking the question “do you want our country to win the war in Iraq?” …No answer from letterman had O’Reilly calling him out on the carpet. A surprising mixed response from the audience. But its the comments that Letterman made to other guest about O’Reilly that puts him in the “shady you call yourself a man category”.
