Video: Dr. Jack Kevorkian Announces Bid for Congress

Dr. Jack Kevorkian has announced his bid for the 9th District seat in Michigan, currently held by Republican Joe Knollenberg, who is running for re-election. Kevorkian is running as an Independent, and criticizes Democratic and Republican Party affiliations as counter-productive to critical thinking. One of his focal points of his speech was his rejection of the U.S war in Iraq, and his continued efforts to change the Ninth Amendment to allow for doctor-assisted suicides.

During his speech, Kevorkian acknowledged his limited experience in politics and his previous aversion to voting. Kevorkian is still on parole after serving the minimum term of eight years for a second-degree murder charge. Although expressing his absence from politics, Kevorkian is most well known for his politics on doctor-assisted Euthanasia.

    - He was in jail and assisted people to die, and now he wants to run for public office? That is funny.

  3. Kevorkian running for public office is perhaps the best thing I’ve ever seen. It’s about time that someone who vehemently supports autonomy, women’s rights, non-conformity, and does not use religion to justify everything stand up for people who would like freedom of choice and speech to be an actual right not a veiled illusion.
