  1. I have been for Fairtax way before I ever heard the name Huckabee.
Now I have both bumber sickers on my truck.
So it’s Economy/Stimulus Package for me, even though I think the Stimulus Package is a joke.
But, I’m just an engineer that nobody likes to listen to for some reason.

  2. I do like the idea of a Fair Tax. Eliminating The IRS and enabling a flat tax rate would be benefitical. Trying to get congress to agree will be an up hill battle. It would strip them of control from being able to Micro Manage our lives and…Oh do I dare say it…..prevent them from raising taxes by manipulating the tax codes. I found a fascinating article on this very issue at townhall.com written by By Walter E. Williams and in it he states that “The Fair Tax is an excellent idea, but only under three conditions: first, the repeal of the Sixteenth Amendment that created the income tax; second, a provision fixing the tax at, say, 23 percent; and third, a constitutional amendment mandating that a tax increase requires a three-fourths vote of Congress. Notwithstanding any provisions within the Fair Tax, if the Sixteenth Amendment weren’t repealed, down the road we’d find ourselves with a national sales tax and an income tax.” This is what concerns me, how would Huckabee or any other President convince congress to pass such bills. Plus we travel down a slippery slope any time we start to amend the constitution. Changing the tax laws will be a big challenge, but someone must do it and soon. The IRS is a very antiquated system, I have yet to see someone argue in its favor.
