Los Angeles — Authorities snared a once-deported gang member who is one of Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s 10 Most Wanted fugitives in Los Angeles, according to MyFOXLA.com.
David Rivera, 33, a member of the MS-13 gang, has alleged links to several murders and prior arrests on sexual assault and drug charges as well as a conviction for gun possession.
He was arrested in an apartment complex in the Rampart section of Los Angeles by ICE agents and detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Rampart Division.
Rivera attempted to escape out the back of the property before agents nabbed him, ICE said.
In addition to Rivera, officers also arrested two other suspected gang associates on immigration violations.Rivera had been deported and illegally re-entered the country, ICE alleged. If convicted, Rivera could receive up to 20 years in federal prison.
He had been sought by authorities for four years and is expected to make his initial court appearance this afternoon in U.S. District Court in downtown Los Angeles, ICE said.
“This arrest is the pay-off for perseverance, great police work and partnership with local law enforcement,” said Jennifer Silliman, deputy special agent in charge of the ICE office of investigations in Los Angeles.
“We will continue to work closely with our law enforcement counterparts in Los Angeles to target gang members like this man who put our communities and neighborhoods at risk,” she said.
Yeah great, federal prison, where we get to pay to house, feed and take care of this piece of crap. This is a major part of what’s wrong with the country. Illegals don’t understand, aren’t anywhere near educated enough to understand, when they form their mobs with Mexican flag waving, demanding citizenship…..THIS IS NOT MEXICO. We can’t afford to keep housing illegals in federal prison for the murder of our American citizens. So I ask , is there a candidate out there that will address this problem with gusto? I think not. This is the trouble I have with the current election, there isn’t any one candidate out there with the answers I like.
Great police work, nice law enforcement, now get the the border patrol agents out of the federal pen and lets secure the damn border for pete’s sake.
This very incident alone is exactly the type of thing you should take into account every single time you step up to the ballots to cast your vote. We got serious problems folks…and somebody needs to fix them. Forget parties, who’s the best for the job? Hint:(Not Ron Paul)

Really, “one of our biggest problems?” How much of our violent crime do immigrants commit? I tiny fraction. The vast majority of those folks come here to work, not rape and pillage. If you want to talk about low wage workers and competition, that’s another issue. Do you think border security is a bigger problem than the war in Iraq, the national debt, health care, outsourcing jobs, or global warming?
And even if immigration from Mexico is a big problem, how do you propose to secure the border? Making a bigger wall will just help the Mexican ladder industry. When you’ve got jobs on one side and poor people on the other, you won’t stop immigration with a fence.
I agree with one thing you wrote. Paying to incarcerate criminals is a waste of money. You’d think with all the people locked up we’d live in the safest country on Earth. How about paying to educate or job train people? We’ve got a lot to learn from countries where murder is rare.
Last thought: Stop watching Fox News. Their right-wing corporate perspective will always scapegoat the littlest people for all our problems, when it’s obviously the powerful people causing this mess.
