MSNBC Florida Republican Debate Analysis 1/24

So far, for the first section, I think McCain has shined actually. He went largely unchallenged.

Romney and Giuliani were average.

Here’s a report from Breitbart:

BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) - Leading Republican presidential contenders agreed in a campaign debate Thursday night that the newly minted economic stimulus package marks a good start, but does not do enough to cut taxes.

“It’s something I support and I look forward to taking it further,” said former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who backs permanent tax cuts along with the rebates that are at the heart of the bipartisan agreement between President Bush and House leaders.

“I will vote for it,” said Sen. John McCain, the only contender on stage with a Senate seat. He quickly added he wants the tax cuts Bush won from Congress in 2001 and 2003 to be made permanent.

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani responded along similar lines in the opening moments of a debate five days before the pivotal Florida presidential primary. “I think this package for what it does is OK and I would support it, but I think it does not go far enough,” he said. “We should be very aggressive.”

The economy has become the most important issue in the campaign, particularly with fears of a recession rising.

It’s been a yawn so far really. Most of the same questions asked and answered already. I think this bodes well for McCain who will come out largely unscathed. Hopefully for Romney, he didn’t shine too much to take back a lead in Florida.

    To whom it may concern,

It is very obvious that MSNBC is partcipating in the nation wide media black out against candidate
Ron Paul. The national media is controlled by the CFR. The CFR is controlled by the centeral bank system {the fed.}. Ron Paul is a threat to the fed ,therefore the CFR orders the news stations that it owns to minimlize the coverage of congressman Paul. It is painfully obvious to all of us who are Ron Paul supporters that he is effectivly being blacked out by the major media in the United States.
It is absoulity shamefull that the major media ,has traded “freedom of the press” for “bought and paid for” by banks and corporations. Ron Paul is a serious contender in this election and those of us who know about him will spread the word. It’s too bad that Americans cannot believe what our main source of information reports to us any more. It borders on treasonist.

    Yours truly {Disgusted},

P.S. Its 45 min into your debate , Ron Paul has spoken twice. Why?

  4. Yeah, Ron Paul made McCain look like an idiot whe nasked about economics. Though, I have to admit, McCain did an excellent job of dodging the question. Funny how the media keeps ignoring the big story. Gee, funny how they just dismiss his huge following. I guess they think we’re all crazy.

  6. To all Republicans: If the thought of Hillary Clinton as president makes you sick as it does me, then here is the only way that the Republicans can win this election. You must nominate an anti war republican. The fact is that the majority of Americans want to get out of this ridiculous expensive war. So no matter how much you like McCain, Romney, Guiliani, or Huckabee, they can’t win because they are pro Iraq War. It is time for the Republican to adopt a realistic strategy to win this election by rallying support for the truly conservative anti Iraq War republican, Ron Paul. Whether you agree with all of Congressman Paul’s views, it doesn’t matter. Based on his record we know he will do everything to cut taxes and get us out of this war. Which is better, Hillary Clinton increasing spending and raising taxes or Ron Paul’s radical ideas of sticking to the constitution and reducing the size of the federal governement. As a successful republican conservative business owner I see Ron Paul as the realistic strategy for beating the democrats. He is our only hope.
    Ron Paul 2008.

  7. Wow! Way to go. All of these Ron Paul supporters comments! No words of encouragement from the neocon group that reads this blog?

  8. If all you do is look at this blog, you would think Ron Paul is the front-runner. If he really had a lot of support, why would he not be getting the votes. Get realistic here people. He is not going to win. Any financial supporters of Ron Paul are wasting their money.

  10. Yep, that’s what I was looking for. The good ole’ neocon posts. It was just a matter of time. Thanks Curtis and Nate!

  11. So, in your mind, recognizing that Ron Paul is dead last in the national polls and nowhere near being a front runner makes someone a “neocon”?

Funny, I just call it acknowledging the facts.

  12. Anyone supporting any of these other impostors is supporting the neo-conservative agenda. Listen to Romney and McCain. They know what they’re talking about when they call each other liberal. Even the Huckster is a lib on taxes and immigration. Note the reason you would be called a “neocon”. Whether Ron Paul wins or not, I’m not backing down from principle and lowering my expectations of an ideal candidate.
