Super Tuesday

With Super Tuesday on the horizon, campaigns are shifting gears and strategies for the final stretch. Ultimately we’ll come down to two candidates and watch several drop outs occur. Then comes the VP speculation. Who’s going to be the running mate for the chosen candidates of each party and how much impact will that choice have?

Well in the past, the chosen running mate has had little to no effect on a given candidate’s run with a few exceptions. Clearly nobody wanted to see George H.W. Bush in office again with an imbecile such Dan “potatoe” Quayle as his second in command. However we settled for a George W. Bush with Dick” I accidentally shot him in the face” Cheney.

So with all that being said we can move ahead to the strategies and predictions. McCain will be shifting his strategy towards New York in an effort to thump Giuliani, while Romney and Giuliani will be focused on Florida and other large delegate numebred states such as California. Huckabee will most likely be riding off into the sunset as his campaign staff dwindles and the remaining staff takes paycuts in order to garner as much air time as they can in the Super Tuesday states. Ron Paul will be lingering in the single digits even though he has perhaps the most sizable warchest of all candidates and most likely will bow out rather quickly come Super Tuesday. I have no clue what’s with Ron Paul supporters but you really should get it through your head, he’s through.

That brings us to Obama and Clinton and as far as I can tell it’s going to continue to be a slug fest with these two throughout the rest of the Super Tuesday contest and there isn’t very much of an indicator who will come out on top although there is one definite certainty, that being that Edwards will have no chance and will be expected to bow out at some point during the day as the results flow in.

As for any possible Veep predictions, it’s a complete wash in that Obama and Clinton in my opinion would best do well with Richardson as a possible VP, with Clinton able to draw from nearly anywhere to pick up a VP to compliment her but one thing is for certain I wouldn’t count on an Obama/Clinton or Clinton/Obama ticket. On the republican side where things are so uncertain it’s nearly impossible to predict who would be a frontrunner in the VP slot. Huckabee and Thompson could possibly be tapped, but it wouldn’t be too far out side of rational speculation to find a republican candidate tapping a female VP in the event Clinton wins the Democratic ticket.

We’ll have more as the race develops heading into Super Tuesday, until then Happy Mardi Gras…I’ll be the drunk guy on the float hurling beads at unsuspecting passersby…..(Any chance Ron Paul will be in the crowd?)

  1. You didn’t really think a direct insult at a site editor would fly did ya?

    Nice try. - Angry

  2. IMO Ron Paul is going to stay in until the convention, which will probably be brokered. He then gets to hold the potential nominees over a barrel until they compromise on some of his issues to get his delegates (probably monetary policy).

It should be an interesting convention to say the least.

    Hang in there Dr. Paul!

  3. Our little group at work has decided that the world would probably explode with an Obama/Clinton ticket. Alas, they are both alphas, it ain’t gonna happen.

  6. It is completely unfair to say Ron Paul has no chance at all. Most people I talk to actually agree that he would make the best President, but they say they wont vote for him “because he has no chance”. If such bias media bashing was not going on he’d have a much greater chance.

  7. It isn’t a matter of media bias, it’s a matter of the numbers. The problem is his bad ideas outweigh his good ones and people are simply not willing to throw that much support behind a candidate who doesn’t have it right on enough issues.

You can’t blame the media for a particular candidate not having the support. He hasn’t done anything at the debates that was spectacular and in fact several times made himself look pretty bad with immature rants like “Yeah you make fun buddy” in response to Mitt Romney. Infact in the same debate he was having a hard time with his hearing aide and couldn’t hear half the time and was constantly trying to adjust them and cupping his hand to his ear giving him a bad appearance.

He has consistenly answered questions with incorrect answers going off on tangents about the wrong subject matter and even went so far as to argue with a fellow candidate even though they agreed on the same topic and he had to be reminded of such and asked why was he arguing a point he was in agreeance with.

He showed that he doesn’t have the ability to stay focused and gets side tracked and easily confused, why on earth would you want someone like that in office? We have Bush already for pete’s sake. We don’t need another bumbling confused idiot in the White House.

  8. It ain’t over until the Fat Lady (Drag Queen Giuliani) sings. As soon as Rudy realizes his chances of becoming VP are over and that his kissing to McCain has been futile he’ll be singing the blues. There’s absolutely no sense in voting for Romney or McCain. They’re both liberals. We might as well vote for Hillary for the sake of the Republican party. The only true Republican is Ron Paul. Now we start hearing candidates talk about the IRS, the Constitution, Revising our Foreign Policy, and Relooking at our Monetary policy. Ron Paul has been saying the truth for decades and people labeled him a kook. Since 70% of Americans believe the War in Iraq should end either immediately or within a year, the only Republican who can defeat the Democrats as plain and simple RON PAUL. Only and ANTI-War candidate will win the Presidency this upcoming election.
