Video: Obama Finally Unloads On The Clintons

Monday morning on Good Morning America, the full interview will be airing in which Obama goes after Bill Clinton for some “troubling” attacks as Obama calls them.

Here’s a short preview video from ABC:

Also, here’s the full story from ABC News:

Sen. Barack Obama says he’s ready to confront former President Bill Clinton, calling his advocacy on behalf of his wife’s presidential campaign, “troubling.”

In an exclusive interview with ABC News’ Robin Roberts to air Monday on “Good Morning America,” Obama, D-Ill., directly engages Bill Clinton on a series of issues.

“You know the former president, who I think all of us have a lot of regard for, has taken his advocacy on behalf of his wife to a level that I think is pretty troubling,” Obama said. “He continues to make statements that are not supported by the facts — whether it’s about my record of opposition to the war in Iraq or our approach to organizing in Las Vegas.

“This has become a habit, and one of the things that we’re going to have to do is to directly confront Bill Clinton when he’s making statements that are not factually accurate,” Obama said.

Watch the full interview on “Good Morning America” Monday at 7 a.m. ET.

I don’t blame Obama. It’s as if he’s running against the Clinton’s instead of the candidate Hillary Clinton. Still, on the other hand, I don’t fault Hillary for trying to capitalize on her husband’s popularity amongst Democrats. I think Bill has been a little loose with the comments lately and Obama is finally going to call him on it.

I will update this story tomorrow with the entire video in case you miss it.

Update:

The full interview:

He does indeed say Bill is lying about some of the happenings in Vegas, isn’t that “unloading” enough? He is accusing him of fibbing to the media and the public about voter intimidation. He could have just ignored but he’s making a bit of a stand on it, perhaps to save his own dignity and not allow Bill’s accusations to unanswered.

Update

I updated the video, found a better copy of the full 6 minutes or so from YouTube.

  1. If he is going to confront Bill–disbarred for perjury–Clinton every time Bill lies, Obama is going to be the busiest man in America.

  2. I don’t see how his is “unloading” on the Clintons. This is one of the most timid accusations of falsification I have ever seen. If you don’t have the guts to come out and call a lie, “a lie,” then not insinuate it. If the former President is making up the facts about Senator Obama’s record then the Senator should show a bit more passion to defend himself.

  3. Obama is certainly addressing Bill Clinton’s role and disclosing his overall displeasure. I think this is important to do at some point– you can only ignore for so long and misapparopriations of a truth can snowball into larger misconceptions unless they are nipped in the bud.

He has maintained a platform of civility and what I would consider political maturity (i.e., not getting overly emotional, but remaining calm in the face of heated debates and intellectual jabs). So I don’t think he needs to get “more passionate” here. He was direct, succinct, and appeared troubled.

  4. I agree with Michael. Ultimately Obama’s measured and more civil approach can and should win him the nomination. I have faith that Americans can tell the difference between desparate lies and consistent, principled, and dignified responses to those lies.

I disagree with JKL, only because if you watch the “full” interview you will see that Obama does call a lie a lie - at about 2:30 he responds to a clinton (bill) statement directly. Also the interview rapidly cuts to another question after that. I think he has plenty of guts and is making sure to say only what is necessary to keep the Clintons honest, so that he does not sink to their level.

  5. Obama brings a vision of hope for this country alot like the hope that Martin L. King brought to this nation. I see Obama in the same light with Hilary et al., working the ropes of entanglement: throwing shrowds of lies and distortions to cloud the vision of the hopeful and replace Obama’s vision of hope with the grotesque image of a bi-polar white house. Bill is Hillary’s strongest advocate and he can’t determine what the meaning of “is” is and has a record of lying under oath! Can you imagine how scewed their vision for America must be?

America needs a fresh start with a strong leader who has a vision for this country. We need Obama’s inspiration and peaceful dignity to fufill the dream of “one country, undivided, with freedom and liberty for all.” I trust him to deliver.
