Video: Rudy Giuliani on Meet the Press 12/9/07

Here is Rudy’s entire interview today on Meet the Press with Tim Russert. It was pretty good, it’s in 5 parts from YouTube, they’ll advance to the next one automatically:

Here’s a news report on the appearance from New York 1:

Former Mayor Rudolph Giuliani was on the defense Sunday during an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

The Republican presidential candidate was asked why his private firms did business with groups connected to people such as 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammad, Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez and North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il.

“When you deal with clients and you take on the problems of clients and you try to help them, it may be that somewhere, someplace they did something that was questionable or arguably questionable,” said Giuliani.

The “security” candidate questioned about ties to terrorist-related people and countries. I don’t think that’s going to stick for anything but it makes for good questioning and entertaining television. Still, that sort of flies in the face of his attitude towards terrorist-sponsoring states like in 1995 when he kicked Yassir Arafat out of New York City concert.

His bigger problems could be losing Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina. Another candidate like Huckabee or Romney gaining that momentum makes for a rough Super Tuesday.

  1. Tim Russert knew what he was doing– and I think did not go in for the ‘kill’ several times because it was unneeded. Rudy’s weakest dimension, by far, is his foreign policy/experience.

Not only is Giuliani espousing new strategic plans for Iraq– which are at this time deemed extremely untenable, but he is doing a poor job of trying to reinterpret intelligence reports.

This is going to cost him votes to Republican governors who appear much more stately and internationally aware.

  2. It’s interesting to see Rudy questioned about things further. During a debate, there isn’t much time and they ask a lot of dumb questions. In a 40 minute interview you really see them squirm more.

  3. I’m really ashamed at my fellow hispanics for being so blind and mal-informed. I can’t believe (well I can) that people will so blindly follow this man barely knowing any real information on his corrupt politics. And how dare anyone boo Ron Paul without knowing the whole picture. People barely let him SPEAK before they started booing at the mere mention of friendly diplomacy with Castro or Chavez!! I’m Cuban and I understand how selfish and malinformed Cubans can be with he embargo policy, but what’s everyone else’s excuse? Blocking trade will NOT help lift the dictatorship, if anything it will make it more hostile and make the people in it poorer.

    SHAME ON YOU! WAKE UP!!
