Video: Huckabee Defends Role in Parole of Convicted Rapist

Amazingly just as fast as they get built up, they start to get torn down.

Here’s a video report from Fox News on the matter:

I’m just not sure how much this is going to affect Huckabee. However, to have the murdered girl’s family speaking out against Huckabee can’t help him all that much. Huckabee has some good answers for the criticism but when it comes down to it, you just can’t explain this away. He played some kind of active role in getting this man paroled, albeit with “supervision” but that clearly didn’t mean all that much.

It will be interesting to see how this plays in the polling as the other campaigns do their best to try and keep it on the front page.

Update

Here’s video of Huckabee discussing the Dumond case with Wolf Blitzer:

Seems to me that Huckabee is working his way out of this controversy. The facts seem to be on his side with the fact that he did not commute the man’s sentence. However, the other he said/she said allegations about parole board members are another issue entirely. We’ll see how this flushes out but I think Huckabee is going to weather the storm. He’s out doing the interviews, answering the questions calmly and completely in my opinion.

In fact, this publicity may actually be good for him.
