Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani will serve as an honorary race official for Saturday’s Pepsi 400, according to Daytona International Speedway officials.

Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City, will ride in an official vehicle and lead the 43-car field at the start of the NASCAR Nextel Cup race.

I think that’s the right move, he needs to court more of the southern vote. I’d bet this is in response to Thompson’s strong support in South Carolina.
