What will you ask the presidential candidates?

Via USAToday:

NEW YORK (AP) — CNN and YouTube will host a Democratic debate next month in which questions for the candidates will come entirely from citizens posting video clips, the latest sign of how the Internet has transformed presidential politics.

The two-hour debate, scheduled for July 23 at the Citadel in South Carolina, will be hosted by CNN anchor Anderson Cooper. But in a conference call with reporters Thursday, executives from CNN and YouTube said the traditional debate format, in which a panel of reporters grill the candidates, had been scrapped in favor of a more democratic approach.

YouTube confirms:

This summer and fall, YouTube, CNN and a few engaged and engaging citizens will make political history by having the presidential candidates answer questions submitted via YouTube videos.

The first debate will feature the Democratic candidates on July 23rd in Charleston, South Carolina. Submit your question for the Democrats between June 14 and July 22 (the earlier the better). The CNN political team will choose the most creative and compelling videos, and if yours is one of them, you may get the chance to fly to Charleston to watch the debate live and offer your reactions afterward on YouTube’s political video blog, Citizentube.

Should be interesting, I guess. If you’re so inclined, you may submit your YouTube question for the Democratic candidates here.

CNN and YouTube will also be doing the same for the Republican debate on Monday, September 17th in Florida.

It’s quite a testament to how ridiculously huge YouTube has become in less than 2 years.

  1. What will any of you do about fair trade? China is taking over manufacturing from the United States by using cheap labor copying product without regard to patents and forcing people to work under less than safe conditions. How does America compete with that? Most all of you candidates have avoided this deep issue, and I am not sure if it has anything to do with our national dept to China. I feel we need to do something and allot of red blooded Americans feel the same way.

  2. You should go submit that, I’m sure nobody will touch it for fear of not being politically correct.

  3. To all the candidates:

Please explain the logic of spending $2-$3 million to campaign on a job that pays $400K/yr.?
Please explain the difference between an oligarchy and immunity from prosecution enjoyed by judges, politicians, corporate heads and even social workers?
Please explain why the freedoms of speech, privacy, etc. are so important to a free nation?
