ABC News has a decent list of upcoming debates, appearances, and other 2008-related events.

Updated 4/16/08

I have also added links to the videos of the debates that have already happened.

  1. You’re missing this debate - New Hampshire - Republicans, September 5th, Fox News

  2. Thank you, it has now been noted! Continue sending updates if I have missed anything else.

  3. How come you list all the Dem debates, past and future, but not Repub debates from the past..? It would be nice to go back and view these statements..

  4. My oversight! I’ll try and correct the list with all the past Republican debates.

  5. …is there a way you can post the completed debate videos somewhere on this page? Those that I miss I would like to watch in their entirety, not just various clips..this is a great resource, keep up the good work..

  6. All the complete debate videos I have can be viewed here:

    2008 Debate Videos

It’s updated shortly after the debates air, most of them are the full unedited debates.

  7. Nate, couldn’t find a way to email you off blog to give you this link for incursion as you didn’t have it posted yet on your ‘2008 Debate Videos’ page yet..put your email here or email me direct and I’ll research the others if the provided links don’t go far enough or aren’t complete..

Here’s the YouTube, 12 part, 5 September Republican debate video’s link (part 1- other segments on same page to click):

    Republican NH Debate

  8. nate@youdecide2008.com

I actually have the full Sep. 5 GOP debate, I just haven’t gotten around to uploading it completely yet but I’ll tie those together in a playlist and add them.

  9. Thanks for consolodating this so well Nate. Your efforts do not go unappreciated.

  10. the republican debate from florida september 17 is not on here, and i couldnt find it anywhere. did it even happen?

  11. Yes it did, I will be getting it uploaded this weekend so check back soon!

  12. thanks nate, it’s so ridiculous how hard some of these debates are to watch, i cant believe that someone without cable can even make an informed decision about this important issue for a couple of reasons. First the newspapers are biased and only summarize the debate which is worthless in my opinion. Two there is not really a site dedicated to archiving these videos except for this site and cspan, and for reasons i dont understand the stations that air these debates feel they own the aired content. capitalism at it’s worst.

Thanks nate if i can help you in any way with this site let me know.

  13. Excellent job, Nate. Thanks for your hard work.

  14. Also, Nate, I see that AARP publishes a list of debates. Perhaps it could prove helpful to you. Thanks again.

    ARRP Divided We Fail

  15. Thanks for the complements and the link, I checked and updated a couple things from the AARP list.

    Appreciate the feedback.

  16. I notice that the title of the September 27 Republican debate that will be aired by PBS is the “All American Presidential Forum.” But it looks like there will be quite a few no-shows. From CBS News (Report on GOP no-shows)
    :
“Key Republican leaders are encouraging the party’s presidential candidates to rethink their decision to skip presidential debates focusing on issues important to minorities, fearing a backlash that could further erode the party’s standing with black and Latino voters.

The leading contenders for the Republican nomination have indicated they will not attend the “All American Presidential Forum” organized by black talk show host Tavis Smiley, scheduled for Sept. 27 at Morgan State University in Baltimore and airing on PBS. Former New York mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, former senator Fred D. Thompson (Tenn.) and Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) all cited scheduling conflicts in forgoing the debate. The top Democratic contenders attended a similar event in June at Howard University.”

  17. I just called WMUR TV in New Hampshire and they confirmed that the GOP debate you have listed for Oct 14th will NOT be aired.

  18. Thanks for the update, I’ll update the list.

  19. When will you have the Rep. Debate from Oct 21st in Florida ready to be viewed? Will you be adding the entire debate?

  20. I will have it uploaded in a few days, check back soon for the entire Florida Rep debate video.

  21. Why the astererisks on the October 30th and November 15th Democratic Debates? Just curious. Thanks.

  22. Never mind! Found it via the DNC. (*Debate will be simulcast on CNN en Espanol. **Telemundo will re-broadcast both debates.)

  23. Amazingly Chris Dodd won the October 30 philly, pa. debate by far.
Chris Dodd was the first person to mention the environment, healthcare, and ENDING THE WAR ON DRUGS.
(Why kucinich doesnt make this a stronger talking point is beyond me.)
Chris Dodd also socked hillary right in the face when he busted her ass on giving illegals drivers licenses, the other top tier candidates get credit for the slam though.

    Keep it up Nate!

  24. I heard a radio commercial for a Democratic debate in Myrtle Beach SC on January 21, 2008 at the Palace Theatre.

  25. Thanks for the catch, I’ve updated the list accordingly.

  26. Hi, i was wondering
would you have any idea on how to get tickets for any of these debates…i would love to attend to the Los Angeles democratic debate. feel free to e-mail me.

    thank you,
    Leslie Fierro

  27. Hmmm… The Los Angeles one is sponsored by CBS and officially sponsored by the California Democratic Party. I would try contacting the California Democratic Party directly, they should be able to tell you more about it.

Here is the website with their contact information:

Contact Us - California Democratic Party

They should be able to get you that information about tickets I would think.

Let us know how you make out.

  28. Hello, I would like to know if anyone knows how to get tickets to the Republican debate in St Petersburg Florida November 28th… I would love to attend Thanks

  29. Someone at Politico.com told me the Democratic debate on December 17th at the JFK Library is being cancelled. Does anyone have any more info on that?

  30. ABC is still listing it as an upcoming event, I will check into it a bit more. Thanks for the information.

  31. HDNet Dec 1 DNC debate (Sat 7:30pm ET)
    - all eight -

    gravel kucinich paul nader

  32. i heard the dems arent debating because of the writers strike?

    That is kind of bulls***.

  33. Yes, that’s the story for the 12/10 CBS Los Angeles debate. Hillary and others said they wouldn’t cross the picket line. They need the union vote of course so they can’t afford to tick them off and debate anyway. Kind of a shame though.

  34. December 1, 2007: The 6th Brown & Black Forum for Democratic Presidential candidates from Des Moines, Iowa points to a link to a 2004 forum. is this to say it is going to happen tonight on cspan, im confused… is there a debate on tonight or not?

  35. The Brown and Black forum was on HDNet tonight (12/1). You can find more information about it here:

    http://www.youdecide2008......night-8pm/

It’s not really a debate, more of a forum where candidates speak individually. I’m looking for video if anyone has it. I don’t get HDNet, not many people do.

  36. hi,

i’m also interested in the full video of the brown/black presidential debate link if there is one. most of the debates so far have been relatively a shame. i wonder why they don’t bother discussing one-two topics every debate. we hear the same stuff over and over again.

  37. The video for the Brown & Black forum has now been added.

  38. does anyone know if there is a non spanish version of the debate that aired on univision last night? maybe a copy without the spanish dubbing? It sure is rare when they give all the nominee’s equal time on the stage dont you think?

  39. I’m working on getting a version up with English subtitles from the closed captioning, that’s the best we can hope for. Should be in a day or two, it’s proving to be technically challenging.

In the mean time, here’s a complete transcript of the debate:

    http://migramatters.blogs.....cript.html

  40. Hi Nate, can you advise if the full text’s of these debates are available somewhere.. I’m looking for a specific comment Dodd made today on being in public service… and again, thanks for providing these links..Its great to be able to watch them all..

  41. Here’s a link to the 12/13 Des Moines Register Democratic debate from today:

    http://desmoinesregister....../1001/NEWS

It’s the full transcript. If you search Google for the debate title and transcript, you can usually find them. I don’t currently archive them but perhaps I should with each debate video.

  42. Thanks Nate, I found the comment in the video I needed but after pasting it in an email, I decided to go back and listen to it. Low and behold, they left a few small statements out from the video in the transcript.. Whats with that? Nothing that huge but I expect a correct copy..! I thought we could depend on the text to be an exact copy of the televised debate..makes me wonder about what else is left out of text’s when they are , supposedly ‘ transcribed…’

for criminey sakes, can’t we get exact info…? Sounds like FOX…

  43. Well, it would be the fault of the Des Moines Register, they sponsored the debate and wrote up the transcript. I would assume it should be correct as well but it’s probably just a simple mistake.

  44. found the answer about the incomplete transcripts by emailing them:

“The “transcript” was the text of the closed captioning, which is
usually very close but can sometimes be imprecise in the wording. I’ll make
sure we are labeling that correctly so no one thinks it is a precise
    transcript…”

    and..

“We were given the closed captioning from Iowa Public Television, so
that is what we posted. We will replace it with an official transcript if
    that is made available.”

    interesting…..

here’s another link to the 13 Dec 07 Demo debate in Iowa w/o the many parts…a straight 83 minute video..

    http://www.nytimes.com/in.....html#video

  45. Is there anywhere I can find full written transcripts of the debates?

  46. I’m not aware of one specific archive of debate transcripts. However, from the demand, it seems as though I should put one together. I’ll see what I can do over the next few days and find them all.

If you search Google you can usually find them. Also, go to the website of the debate sponsor, they usually have them as well.

  47. My husband works for one of the companies that Mr. Edwards has decided are bad companies….he works for a research based pharmaceutical company. He has worked for this company for more than 20 years, and I am flabergasted by his insinuation that pharmaceutical companies are “bad”. I’m curious as to how he can express this position in light of the fact that his wife undoubtedly requires multiple medications to fight her cancer.

Since the pharmaceutical industry is so “bad”, I suppose he could protest the industry or ask his wife to forgo the use of these medicines that have saved her life. However, considering he made his forutne based on ambulance chasing legal practices, I’m sure he’ll find a way to rationalize his continued support of this evil empire.

  48. I thought McCain would be the best for this nation, but after watching tonight’s debate — I am now a Mitt Romney supporter. He has experience and he doesn’t fall to the level of picking at his opponents personally. He sticks to the issues, he’s professional, and he will be the best GOP nominee.

  49. I noticed the same thing about McCain tonight: he’d repeatedly make cutting remarks about Romney, and then lean back in his chair with a smirky smile on his face. And Romney carried himself well, and went a long way toward winning me back.

And if McCain gets it, ugh. I mean just imagine dead-pan old-man monotone McCain debating Obama. GOP would get trounced!

  50. I don’t think Romney is in this thing anymore. He simply cant compete with the others as a politician. I think Romney would be good for the economy but other than that all I see is G.W. Bush the sequel.

John Mccain, I watched a Cspan town hall of his recently and he quoted Chairman Mao of all people. Also his talk along with Giuliani’s talk about bio metric tagging of illegals sounds like George Orwell’s 1984.

Next thing you know the government will be saying we can’t keep track of illegals so let’s just bio metricly tag the citizens….

Next thing you know they invent a microchip that can be implanted in your skin that can be scanned because it’s more “accurate” than fingerprints and “they are only trying to keep you safe” .

  51. I used to be a Mitt supporter, but after watching him get laughed at on Saturday’s debate, I’m now a Rudy supporter.

He’s smart, wise accomplished, vigorous, and with the right temperament.

Huck was out of his league on Saturday, and wouldn’t answer tough questions on Sunday. McCain is liberal, old, and cranky.

  52. Koala: you can find Debate Transcripts on this website: http://2008electionprocon.....cripts.htm

They have a list of all the debates so far for both parties. Lots of good info. Also a page on the site with candidate speech transcripts.

  53. Find tons of links and information about all of the candidates here at this page… http://www.whotovotefor2008.com

  54. Why aren’t these debates better advertised? I’ve missed several. It’s good to know that I can find them online. I’ll be watching my man Mitt tomorrow night - Jan 10 at 9 pm (eastern time) on Fox News.

If Barack Obama wins the election would the US be thought of as an Obama-nation?

  55. Mitt is easily the most qualified Republican candidate. The others may have laughed at him on Saturday (which was disgusting and unprofessional, in my opinion), but he has still received a large portion of republican delegates in Iowa, NH, and almost all of them from Wyoming. He can still easily win this thing.

Clinton will certainly get the Dem nomination-mark my word. She is overwhelmingly more qualified than the young (and enthusiastic) Obama.

  56. Does anyone have a link to a site that will tell me the number of delegates per party per state?

Also many a page with a running total of how many delegates each candidate has up to the moment?

    would be fun to watch…

    Mike

  57. Thank you for making all this information available. It has been constant work to track the debates.

  61. Hey there everyone!

Here is a link for a very cool debate video tool that we developed here at http://www.redlasso.com. You can search every debate in clip form by issue, candidate, and debate location. Check it out! Feel free to link it from your own sites or blogs, or, every individual video can be embeded, linked or emailed directly from each clip.

    Thanks

  62. A small comment on the Democrat/Republican Debate scheduled for the date of October 15, 2008, the university’s name is actually spelled Hofstra University….with an ‘r’ in there rather than without.

  63. Corrected, thanks for mentioning it.

  64. For Democratic debate tickets, go to http://www.cadem.org/debate

Hurry, deadline to enter is noon PST.

  65. Here’s a couple of links for candidate stands on the issues:

    Mike

  66. have missed SEVERAL of the debates b/c of your system of leaving out the DATE on “upcoming debates”. i mean, if it said “today” or “tonight” or something, that would be different…but as it is, the eye jumps to the FOLLOWING LINE.

especially on days like today where the next line is red. just did an “informal survey” and 7 out of 10 ppl here read that as “next debate = republicans…9pm”. about 50/50 split whether CNN or MSNBC, but only 3 in 10 realized those were 2 diff entries!

    suggest u change this system!

moreover, i think the listings (and even these comments) would b more useful in REVERSE order. i.e. newest up top. so that the upcoming debate(s) are first on the page…not hidden way down the bottom somewhere.

    my two cents.

    cheers, julie

  67. sorry, left out the most critical detail!!

should have said “7 out of 10 ppl here read that as ‘next debate = republicans…**1/30** at 9pm’ ”.

    that was my whole point!

    sorry.

  68. Julie, thanks for those comments, I’ll try to clarify things better than I have and fix the upcoming schedule to be more clear.

I’ll see about reversing the comments and this list as well.

    I appreciate your suggestions.

  69. Go Governor Mike Huckabee! We love you!

  70. Amy,
Just what is it about Huckabee that you love. Is it that he is against putting up the border fence or perhaps that he wants to allow illegals to go to college “funded out of your pocket”, or that he wants to allow them to get into your social security fund.
Just what is it that you so love about Huckabee?

  71. Nate,
You are the best! Thank you for this site!

  72. Go Ron Paul!

  73. cnn said tonight at the end of their debate there would be another the end of february from ohio…can anyone tell me where i find out the details about that??

  74. Where can I find the February schedule of debates? Specifically the one in Ohio. I would like to try to attend. Thanks!

  75. This page has been updated to reflect the February debates.

Here’s the latest details direct from CNN:

    http://politicalticker.bl.....e-horizon/

    Feb. 27 - Democrats
    Feb. 28 - Republicans

No other details such as the time and location have been released yet.

  76. It is critical that we hold the parties, the candidates and the media to the promise of the February 27 and 28 debates. There is still much to debate and discuss, and many voters yet to have their say.

  77. ·URGENT! VOTERS need a CHOICE! Every time Mike Huckabee gets air time his polls go up — so we must insist they hold Republican Debates!!! And, I say we ask for Equal Time — why is CNN holding 2 Democrat Debates (Feb. 21-Texas, Feb. 27 Ohio)???? We want 2 Republican Debates Too!!!! Equal Time for Republicans!!! (The Ohio GOP cancelled the Feb 28th CNN debate). Tell them that the media will not decide for the voters who the candidates are!
    Contact CNN: http://www.cnn.com/feedba.....m5.html?65
Let’s insist that this debate happens! We Write/Call your RNC officials:

    f: (512) 480-0709
    website: http://www.texasgop.org

  78. THANKS CHRIS for the info. WHY did they cancel the Feb 28th debate? Are they AFRAID that Mike might smoke McCain? LOL! I will be writing and sending everyone those links so we can demand the debate takes place. Thanks again!
Nate, I love your site!!! I tell all my friends about it.

  79. Hey, how come there aren’t any republican debates or at least why did they cancel the Feb 28th one?

  80. No more GOP debates because McCain will likely be the nominee. The Ohio Republican Party canceled the Feb. 28 debate because they said McCain will probably be the nominee. Perhaps McCain didn’t agree to participate in the debate as well but I don’t know that for sure.

  81. I find it funny how everyone talks about how McCain will be the nominee, and yet curiously, no one has talked about how McCain, born in PANAMA, is not eligible to be President per the Constitution…?

Let’s have a level playing field here, at least try to, maybe? Huckabee and Paul deserve to get their messages out as well. McCain is a liberal propagandist with nothing new to offer. It’d be Bush’s 3rd term.

    I’m sick of this garbage.

  82. I just have a question. Did the candidates in the Democratic debate in Texas receive the debate questions ahead of time?

  83. Hey, I heard that Huckabee challenged McCain to two Lincoln-Douglas debates on Friday and Monday. Anyone know about it?

    http://firstread.msnbc.ms.....03277.aspx

  84. I don’t know what debated you all have been watching but after Hillary explains in detail you can rest asure that Obama will repeat what Hillary just said word for word. On the issue on health care Obama’s rehetric on mandates in Clinton’s plan are the same MANDATES in his plans. Obama calls for “CHANGE” but plays the same Washington games.
Obama shows republican attributes. Rehetric at any cost.

  85. Melissa,

Please don’t ever compare Obama to a Republican, unless you are calling him intelligent and handsome. :)

  86. Thanks for all the hard work. This site is extremely useful!

  87. Nate, are you the person in charge of the web?

You should include a blog on the McCain refusing to debate Huckabee. I think its getting really heated. In fact, the Huckabee website’s letter of request to Sen. McCain to debate has already reached 11,000 people or more signatures. I think it would be informative if you had any more info on this side of the spectrum.

  88. I’d like to see another Democratic debate between Hillary and Barack before PA votes!

  89. do you know how to get tickets to the presidential debate in oxford, ms in september?

  90. What/who would be the contact for the 10/7/08 Debate at Belmont University? Love to attend! Thanks.

    Matt

  91. I would also like tickets to the September debate in Oxford, MS. Does anyone know how to get tickets?

  92. Julia and Carrie, most likely you will not be able to get tickets to the Oxford, MS debate, as it is to be held in the Ford Center for Performing Arts. The media attending alone fill to capacity this building.
