In a very interesting post over at Destination:White House, Matt discusses the seemingly obvious questions surrounding John McCain’s health.
After a few conversations here and there, I have decided to revisit the subject of Senator John McCain and his health. I previously wrote about this in January asking readers if they knew what was going on with McCain’s cheek. Since then I have noticed people are actually wondering if he does have a tumor, as people have come across the site by searching “john mccain face tumor†or other similar searches.
McCain’s cheek, maybe we’re just nuts but it looks like somethings there:

To be honest, who knows. I’m no doctor and maybe there’s a simple explanation. At 70 years old clearly McCain’s health will come into question by election time. He’ll be 72 by then.
Que Wikipedia blurb:
Should McCain win in 2008, he would be the country’s oldest President in history at initial ascension to office, being 72 years old and surpassing Ronald Reagan, who was 69 years old at his inauguration following the 1980 election. He has dismissed concerns about his age and past health concerns (malignant melanoma in 2000), stating in 2005 that his health was “excellent.”
I can’t see why he’d lie about his health being excellent if it wasn’t. After all, we’d find out at some point if it wasn’t. Still though, what is up with McCain’s cheek?

I think a younger president is better. No tolerence to deal with health issues while being the president of the worlds leading nation.
Why doesnt the media comment on McCain’s obvious face tumor. Especially since he has a history of cancer.Or is he chewing tobacco? Abscessed tooth? Storing his lunch?
This has been dealt with in detail in the media. What you’re calling an “obvious face tumor” is simply the result of extensive facial and node surgery to be 100% sure the malignancy of 2000 was completely eradicated. The surgeons who performed the surgery have also been interviewed at length.
That’s why it’s a dead issue with the media, it’s a nonstory.
You may also deal with health issues if either Obama or Clinton get elected. Obama is a long time smoker and Clinton is, well, a middle aged female. Youth is no gaurantee against health problems.
Kennedy was the youngest president ever elected - & he had Addison’s disease. youth is not a guarantee of good health.
The lump actually looks very similar to the tumor that develops near the lymph nodes at the jaw line in Hodgkins or Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, which are cancers of the lymphatic system.
Well, thank God it’s not that.
Sanjay Gupta says:
If you see the pictures of his face, you will no doubt see a scar running down the left side and persistent puffiness of his left cheek. This is from the aggressive operation he had to remove the cancer as well as the lymph nodes in the area, as well as part of his parotid gland. When we show those pictures to independent doctors, some have told us an operation of that magnitude would’ve been done only for a much more serious and aggressive cancer than IIA melanoma. Other doctors disagree, saying McCain’s aggressive operation may have been done out of an abundance of caution, where doctors removed more lymph nodes and other tissue than is normally done, because he is, well, John McCain.
