Joe Biden: Epitome of Tolerance

Joe Biden announced his candidacy for President today and immediately pulled a John Kerry.

Biden said the following (lifted from Hot Air):

Mr. Biden is equally skeptical—albeit in a slightly more backhanded way—about Mr. Obama. “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,” he said. “I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”

After all, Biden should know because, as he puts it, Delaware was a slave state.

What a foolish, ignorant thing to say. Couple this with his statement about Dunkin Donuts and you’ve got a real winner on your hands. Way to “Unite Our States” Joe.

If a Republican candidate had made even one of these comments, he or she would be taken out and hanged by the mainstream media. Joe Biden however has gotten away with a few but I think this is the nail in the coffin.

There is more reaction on the right from Hot Air and Mary Katharine Ham.

Further Developmenets:

Audio can be heard here.

Biden apologizes via The Hotline:

“I deeply regret any offense my remark in the New York Observer might have caused anyone. That was not my intent and I expressed that to Senator Obama.” — Sen. Joe Biden, in a statement.

Alternate quote: “I deeply regret ruining my non-existent chances for 2008. That was not my intent and I expressed that to Senator Obama.”

Biden, never to disappoint.
